Text number last

So, summer has come to its end. And as you can see this blogs title "Sokko's summer diary" it's time to finish this blog too.
I think I made the right choice when I decided to open this kind of blog and write about my summer. You know, usually at summer I forget that time I've got is actually surprisingly small and limited to do all the things I've promised. This blog kept me up to date more and actually it has been the most productive summer I have ever had!  This summer I drew so many new doujinshi pages! 19 pages in total makes about 40% of all pages. It means I made pages as much as I normally do in half a year. It's kinda well from one summer!

One drawing from my doujinshi pages I made this summer.
I wanted to color it quickly.
Remembering the summer makes me pretty sad. There is so good summer behind! I remember when me, Kaura and Eruna went to the forest outing.. I remember that we swam to one little island where we use to have picnics at summer times (Forgot to write about that..) I remember my long lonely times at summer job where I usually wrote these articles.. boy, my summer was great.

Now I have moved to my old apartment again and started going to school. It's the same old film industry school where I study. It's relieving to come back to old routines, but I can't help feeling wistful. Besides I got a flu...

This is my good old apartment.. I can't still help feeling wistful.

As there reads in my design of this article, I must say something about the future. Well, I don't know what to say... I will try to make new From Vast Seas page marathons every month. I'm not sure yet, but I have planned to go foreign exchange with my sister next spring. I don't know yet where or for how long time. I will not delete this blog. It's a great memory of this summer and I think I might continue writing here next summer!
So! Good bye for the present!

To the next summer!
What a spectacular summer it's been!

Hakuna matata!

Helloo again!
I supposed to write this before July ended but I didn't make it xD
(Anyway, so few writings lately! Sorry about that~)
I have had much quality time lately. Gosh I love summer!
It's so hakuna matata~

With Kaura and Eruna we have had time to have some fun!
In nature of course. Once me and Kaura ventured on the neighborhood (mostly just forest here btw)
with our Pokemon GOs we found some real cute animal friends too
Two little hairy caterpillars!
Mine is Macrothylacia Rubi (right) and Kaura's is Acronicta rumicis.
They're so cure, aren't they <3
I named mine 'Rock'n'roll larva and Kaura's is 'Pokèmon'.

We have been nurtured them and will until they transform to moths. Pokèmon is already
encapsulated, but mine is yet being larva (hope it will encapsulate soon since summer is ending soon...).
Another great thing is that my summer job completely ended today! Hooray~! (but I have only
4 days time till my school stars! Nuuh~ how can this happen! I don't wanna summer to end ever, noo!!! ;A;) I must make the very most of these left days of my vacation!
I have been listening this song quite many times on this summer xD

Since I were hanging with Kaura who were painting a wall of our forest stock, our mom (who was also there cleaning up the stock) found a folder of our very old ancient drawings from our preschool and primary school times. They were hilarious to watch~

Kaura had awesome drawing skills yet then! She drew amazing stuff!
In turn, I drew mostly creepy stuff... like this!
Look! Even my version of a teddy bear looks like it's waiting the chance to kill you!
(Kaura's is above, Mine is below.)

To my recently drawings! I'm very proud that I caught my goal of summer (in comic pages)
I'm taking a rest from drawing those for a little time. Instead I have drawn other things, like Handersim's reference picture and gift pictures of Martyrous' characters (you can see the finished one in deviantart. More is still yet to come!)
I have also drawn Handersim's Halloween Town OP Group-version*.
(*A role play group of One Piece community in DeviantART. You can make your OC a halloween creature and join the fun too: http://halloween-town-op-oc.deviantart.com/)
I have also made Sokko and Bunny Joe there. :)
He's a werewolf <3 I'm going to submit this also in DA soon (except the left one there's his animal form. Too sketchy and lazy doodle to DA!)

Drawing challenges

Hey guys! Long time again from the last time I wrote here something ^^'
There have been so much things that have happened but still I feel like I don't have anything special to say. But I thought that since (btw, have you noticed how much I use the word 'since' on this blog <___<) I have a lot of drawings to publish here, this time I will keep this article more drawing related. Here are something I have drawn lately.
Click the pictures If you want to get them bigger.

This is a drawing that I have decided to draw a long time ago. I read Yotsuba&! (Kiyohiko Azuma's manga) in library couple years ago and there I found a picture like this:
http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/fb0ea5856a37cc912e34018f7aef7775.jpg
It was very hilarious and reminded me of my own characters
so I decided to draw it using my crazy revolutionary trio, Sokko, Bunny Joe and Handersim :)
So this is the first drawing where I have used base.
I also wanted to try some new coloring style (like always when I draw something random)
and I shaded it with a Copic marker brush I downloaded to my Photoshop.
I will also put this to DA later when I have introduced Handersim better.
But to you, oh dear readers, I show this earlier to thank you for being so interested of this blog

Here's something that I killed time with at my summer job. It's Musician Melody ♥
Not my own character, barely not anyone's character..
It's from the card game 'Old maid'
and I always do everything to get his family!
He is gorgeous! He is lovely!! I LOVE HIM! ಠ益ಠ)

I drew this in my workplace also. I read Astrid Lindgren's book Mio, my son.
It is a good book. Mostly because there is one character I like a lot.
One day I wondered what kind of pictures there are
of  my very favorite character of the book,The King of Fareaway land
(A. k. a: My father, The King = 'Isäni Kuningas' in Finnish).
But Google image search only showed me the actor of the King
from the movie made of the book.
I didn't like the appearance of it and decided to draw him myself to forget the one I saw.
This is my version of Astrid Lindgren's The King of Fareawayland.

Here is my OP OC Pirate crew, Seven brothers pirates.
They are created for my doujinshi project (Not for From Vast Seas. but for upcoming Tiny Stories. They will also appear in Tocky's bonus story, Me and Past). I have taken inspiration from a significant Finnish opus, Seven brothers (Seitsemän veljestä) The Characters are not related to the characters in the book with any links.
Only common things are that they are brothers, there are seven of them
and they are all reckless wretches!

From left to right:
Sami and Krisu (cooks)
Joonas (navigator and doctor)
 Nikke (captain)
Eikka (vice-captain)
 Jaakko(sword man)
Jussi(cabin boy)
I wanted to name them with Finnish names but I'm still not sure if it's profitable...
I'm afraid they are too strange and hard to read for you who doesn't speak Finnish D:
What you think? Should I change them? The edited names would be from left to right:
Sam and Chris, Jonas, Nicky, Ezra, Jakob and Joby.
What do you think?

Unfortunately I still want to tell you the news of my personal boring life.
At my holiday week I had lot of hurries which kept me on my toes and away from drawing new pages to the doujinshi.
Our mom has got that crazy idea that me and Kaura have to wash and clean our pier from all the dirt that has become burnt.
It takes forever and makes my hands hurt -_-
We have been doing it everyday, except a couple special days when we were not home. On Tuesday afternoon me and Kaura went to sleepover with our old school friends on one's summer cottage. It was pretty fancy place but there happened nothing special. We just played some card games and board games and that's it.
On Saturday our whole family went to an agricultural exhibition. There were so much people and stalls and everything to look at, but we were there so many hours that we still had most of time for relaxing and resting in the shadow (It was very hot that day).

Everyday when Kaura and me have slept on home, we have slept on our dad's trailer that he takes home every summer. We stay up very late every time, of course. We have so much fun there. We watch movies, talk and laugh and of course we draw. We have the tradition to give 'drawing challenges' (as we call them) for each others there. Kaura tells me what I have to draw and I tell her what she has to draw and then we both draw the thing we are told. It's very funny. We usually use our OP OCs in those challenges.

I'm gonna show you some of them! Tadadaaa!
I apologize in advance that some of the texts in the drawings have been written in Finnish. I will translate them in descriptions.

Kaura told me to draw our OP OC fellows in fantasy world.
As you can see, I have drawn these extremely fast and cutting corners.
From left to right:
Beautiful nymph of water and forest, Eruna
 Will-o'-the-wisp, Kaura
 An elf warrior, Bunny Joe
 Little hobbit, Sokko.
Lovely elf princess, Jellie
 Timid troll, Tocky
Wise wizard, Handersim.
Here are our OP fellows in the film-industry.
From left to right:
Handersim (an actor): "I wanted to be a grip..."
Bunny Joe (the camera man) "When we start shooting?"
Sokko (the director): "Smile, Handersim!"
Tocky (the catering): Who wants some coffee?"
Kuzan (the grip *lighting and rigging technical): "Need some help down there?"
Kaura (audio engineer): N- No thanks! I'm fine!"
Jellie (The producer): "We have 10 minutes left! Chop chop!"

This drawing challenge is drawn by Kaura.
I told her to draw Kuzan and Kaura dancing and it turned out to be very
challenging drawing challenge thanks to their height difference!
But she totally nailed it! XD
Kaura told me to draw these known fellows as Big Hero 6 characters~
As always, Left to right:
Handershi (Handersim as Tadashi)
Hirokko (Sokko as Hiro)
Bunnymax (Bunny Joe as Baymax)
Kuzabi (Kuzan as Wasabi)
Goura (Kaura as Gogo)
Jellie Lemon (Jellie as Honey Lemon)
Frecky (Tocky as Fred)

I told Kaura to draw these characters as Alice in Wonderland characters :3
I like this one very much <3
From left to right:
Jellie as the Red Queen
Tocky as King
Sokko as Alice
Kaura as Cheshire Cat
Bunny Joe as White Rabbit
There's a lot of more drawing challenges we have drawn but I can't find them or I'm just too lazy to put them here... maybe next time if you still want to see more :)

Oh, and just to let you know that I'm not such a yokel who doesn't be knowledgeable about timely things: Yes, I have a Pokemon GO. :I I haven't really managed to play it because there are no pokemons where I live.... It sucks to live middle of nowhere! x'D

Midsummer magic

Last weekend was midsummer. It's very important and significant holiday on Scandinavian area (especially in Finland where I live).
Almost as significant as Christmas! It's joyful and exciting holiday including all it's traditions.
At midsummer we use to eat well, drink, celebrate greatly..
The certain thing why it's celebrated is that sun doesn't go down that day because we are in north. The certain traditions in midsummer are midsummer pyre and midsummer magics. Midsummer pyre is a bonfire, which is burned in every household at midsummer night when sun is almost getting down.
Midsummer magics are funny  games that especially single women and children play on midsummer evening. They always are related to finding out something about your  future spouse. But I will tell you about those in continue.
Anyway, I think you are more curious to know about my midsummer day so I will tell you about it.

Ok, at the very day me and my sister Kaura woke up early, 7 AM. The morning was like any other morning but we had so much things to do that we were excited to start cleaning up and get prepared fot the midsummer day. We were glad that the day was very hot and it was not raining like usually it was at Midsummer.
As always, our cousin Eruna's family were going to come visit us and eat a banquet with us. I was a little bit in a pique that Kaura got all funny and creative works like making decorations and making a bath whisk. But I got all the boring ones like peeling potatoes and cleaning the house inside...

Kaura's decorations

Me enjoying the sunny day.

Mom cleaned her yard and garden and dad got his favorite job: making food.
We ate very tasty, fancy and expensive food that day. As meal we had moose steak and grilled ham, grilled corncobs, smoked salmon,  mushroom sauce, salad with mint, cherry tomatoes and feta cheese, cream potatoes spiced with garlic and new potatoes from our own field.

Dad's making food

While after eating meal it was time for dessert. We had a very pretty meringue cake decorated with just picked blueberries and strawberries, rhubarb pie and rocky road made by Eruna's family. As drink we all 8 drank coca cola (Eruna's family have a special habit to drink much coca cola) except our dad who had some quality wine.

Yummy!

After the dessert our cousin's family went to their own summer cottage (our neighbor house) to celebrate their Midsummer evening. Eruna went there too, but since we had an idea to sleep in tent that night, she came back to our place after a while.
When she was gone, me and Kaura set up a tend that our dad found from attic. While setting up the tend, mosquitoes ate my legs full of little itchy red bumps! I should have used some insect repellent...
On the left I am setting up the tent. On right Kaura and Eruna inside the tent.

When Eruna came back it was already late evening. It was time for sauna. (*Sauna:  Finnish pronunciation is a small room or building designed as a place to experience dry or wet heat sessions. -Wikipedia)
I have never liked to be in sauna because I hate the hot air, it's a bit agonizing~ XD
It was 80 Celsius degrees in our sauna and of course we had our bath whisk which we use only in midsummer sauna.
We are in sauna.

This is what we do with bath whisk.

And of course when it's about the sauna it always means that we go to swim too! We live at the lake that where we own a beach and a pier. Eruna jumped straight to the water which I always wonder how she can do it.. Water is so cold, tho!) in my opinion, dipping process can take several minutes.. I hate cold as much as I hate hot...

Eruna just jumped to the water and I suffered a little eternity!

We came from sauna and it was time for the climax of the whole midsummer! And now I'm talking about the midsummer pyre! We lighted up our bonfire and it turned out to be at least 5 meters tall and it was very beautiful! Like a Christmas three.

As I mentioned before about 'midsummer magics' well I ca't explain it well with these poor English skills of mine, so I borrow some text from other sites:
There are various magical tasks and tricks for young girls (and boys) to perform on Midsummer Eve in order to know whether they would soon be married or to get a glimpse of their future spouse.

There are plenty of different tasks, but we use to do only two of them. The first goes like: if you pick up 9 wild flowers and put them under your pillow, you can see your future spouse in your dreams. The second goes like: if you throw the bath whisk on the roof, it's head points you which direction your spouse comes from. These tasks are funny even though I'm not superstitious. This midsummer tells me that my spouse comes from south-west and I saw Bastille from One Piece in my dream... We went to sleep very late, it was 4 AM o'clock. At night me, Kaura and Eruna went walking to outside. It's always very quiet at midsummer night, when people are all celebrating or sleeping. We went to a motor road and it was silent and empty. It was exciting and scary to sit middle of it. When we heard some cars coming from far in the forest, we ran to hide. We cut through our uncles just fielded field and run as fast as we could! It was so scary and fun! Some midsummer magic tells that if you run through a field naked at the midsummer night the first who comes to you is your future spouse. Ps: No, we were not naked. x'D

My future spouse! xD

Jobs and computers

At the first day of this week, 13th day, my summer job started.
I work as a guide of one church that is from 1600 century.
It's quite pleasant and leisurely work, since there comes visitors pretty seldom and I don't have to do anything else instead of guiding visitors, so I have lot of free-time for my personal stuff like reading One Piece, other books, drawing and thinking.. but in the other hand it's pretty stressful and uncomfortable also.
I mean, the benches are making my neck hurt and I have to be on cold all the time so I'm usually freezing there. Church is really pretty tho! Its walls and roof are painted full of detailed flower and fruit ornament and stuff like that

Picture of the church.
(not my picture)

I'm also going through the one very significant thing of my life. Changing computer. It maybe doesn't sound very significant, but I want you to notice that I've used the same computer 6 years. It's very dear to me and I wouldn't abandon it. It has been a really good companion to me and very big help and I feel no other computer could replace it. Anyway, since it's so old, it started to show signs of death a year ago. My high schools greatest nerd came to see it and after 4 hours check out and tying to fix it he said: "Computers are like dogs. And I'm like a vet who says that there's nothing I can do. I recommend you to by a new one."
I was kinda confused but expecting it, but I rejected his advice and continued working with my dear old computer (which name is Puppeli, btw.)

Puppeli

Dying of it, I can blame Windows 10. When it automatically updated itself to Windows 10, it's graphics card overloaded and its voice card broke down. Not to mention that its battery was broken already. Soon after me and my dad started to look after a new computer. We are both such a fellows who doesn't bargain of good quality, so the computer ended up to cost over 1500 €.
It's the most awesome computer I've ever seen and I'm proud that it's mine~
I named it "Space Cooler" because it has 3 terabytes hard disk and Cooler master case.

Space Cooler, my new computer.

When the new computer came, it was the best timing of all, because
two days after that, Puppeli died. Yes, it died literally! No signs of that anything is working anymore.
It was a sad moment to me. It has attended me so well that even Space Cooler cannot replace it.
Fortunately I have all my stuff in external hard disk, so I didn't loose my documents.

Right now is my very first day of my week vacation from my summer job and I'm so released and I feel great! I'm drawing right now and got my first Kiriban picture ready ^^.
It's very odd that I got two Kiriban winners but they're both so nice friends to me that I draw the both anyway. :)
Marty's kiriban prize as unfinished.
The ready one is in my gallery on DA.

I have also drawn some other stuff:
I haven't time to color correct this, but try to find out the drawing xD
Here's one of doodles of Sokko as 21 years old.

I drew paper sketch of this in the church. There's Eruna and Kaura hugging each other.

Homedays

Yess!! Now my summer vacation has truly begun! I mean, my parents are working and I can have finally peaceful mornings to 16:00 o'clock. I love it! I can draw my comic pages and other drawings and also write the script so much. Now when I have moved back to home it's really wonderful to work on my old workstation again.

Here is my workstation where I spend the most of my time.
It's disheveled but I just like it that way.

Presently I'm working on reference of Sokko's looks from her specific ages,
7 years old, 9 years old, 15 years old, 19 years old (current) and 21 years old (after timeskip)

Yesterday my sisterfinished her super awesome
Jellie picture that can be seen in deviantart right now. Here's a picture how it looked after she finished it

Rest of the day Karolina was doing her commission work for our aunt to
paint two signs to the roadside where reads 'Traditional bread' ('Perinne leipää' in Finnish)
Our aunt cells home-made traditional bread. She'll soon be Karoliina's boss in her summer job
as a café owner since the café will be in her apartment.

Karoliina was doing hard work so long so I decided to get her some tea (also to price for that awesome Jellie she drew). I had to go to ask her how many spoons of sugar she'd take where she answered two.
Well, I noticed that there was only little sugar at the bottom of the jar so I poured it all in her cup.
I shouldn't have done that, because after her first taste it was so sweet that it wasn't drinkable~
I was so dumb...

The grey mug with picture of Stinky (Moomin) is for Karoliina.

There's our great lion hunting in his dreams.

Forest outing

Yesterday me, my sister Karoliina and my cousin Elena went on a forest outing hosted by church. It was prearranged day before. We were also supposed to go to swim since water was very warm but yesterday north wind had cooled down our lake water.
After eating we headed to the stern forests of our village where the friendly priest of our church and bunch of old and middle-aged parishioners were waiting for us. When we arrived, our priest shook hands with us and bit after the journey started. The group walked in a line along a narrow and meandering forest path and we (being left behind up the near) started taking photos of the beautiful nature surrounding us.

After long long journey we finally stopped at the foot of wooden cross.
It was really high, up on the hill and we were able to see ocean since it was headland where we were.
It was time of eating lunch but we were just too excited so we ventured and frolicked down at the coast.
The place was so beautiful that we started planning
to go there another day with tent.

Rest of the journey the forest was also very pretty so we continued taking photos.

There are my cousin Elena(left) and my sister Karoliina(right). They are also known as Eruna and Kaura, my closest fellows on DA and in real life.

It was 21:30 when we ended the journey. It was long but refreshing day!
Hope we will have time to go there again.
And that time we sure take a tent along!

All of these pictures was taken with my smart phone. Indeed I'll take a proper camera with me the next time too ;D
